3D TV & Film

The history of 3D TV and Film begins in the late 1890s. Yes it is true, 3D Film has existed as long as there have been films and 3D TV have existed since the Americans took over the TV development from Germany after WWII. When it come to 3D Films it was the British film pioneer William Friese-Greene who filed for the first 3D movie patent. However the viewer had to watch the 3D movie through a stereoscope so the technique was not practical to earn money on though it was a very cool thing! After William's 3D followed to other pioneers, Frederick Eugene Ives in 1900 and Edwin S. Porter in 1915 who invented a red-green anaglyph 3D fim system that showed the Niagara Falls to a cinema audience in 3 Dimensions.

History of 3D TV

3D TV is essencially the same process as 3D Film, But of course people did not begin to own TVs until the 50's in the US and the 60's in Europe, not counting the Germans experiement in the late 30's. The new revivel for 3D TV is much due to the recent development of digital TV. The process of converting 2D TV to 3D TV is much cheaper with a digital technique because now the 3D process can be done automatic and within hours by computers.
